The Evergreen Fund supports conservation, low income housing, microfinance, and medical research across the globe.

Projects
CONSERVATION
Through a partnership with the Nature Conservancy, we have funded the purchase of 13,138 acres in the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve in the Mayan rainforest of Mexico for permanent conservation.
The reserve is home to a pre-Columbian Mayan archaeological site and a large, biodiverse tract of rainforest. The Evergreen Foundation is dedicated to preserving this critically threatened reserve.
MICRO-FINANCE
The Evergreen Fund believes in encouraging the entrepreneurial spirit, especially in communities that lack access to financial resources.
The Evergreen Fund works with communities in Uganda and Tanzania to help people (especially women) who don’t have access to formal banking systems.
In Uganda, the Evergreen Fund joined with the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island to create the Savings Group Microfinance Project in Uganda. The Savings Group Microfinance Project worked with the Uganda Minister of Microfinance to create opportunities for savings and financial security.
In Tanzania, the Evergreen Fund, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bainbridge Island and HISA, supported the creation of 150 savings groups, of 25 to 30 members each. These groups have helped thousands of families move forward on the pathway toward financial independence and security.
MEDICAL RESEARCH
Losing a loved one to the ravages of cancer or Alzheimer’s disease is far too common. And the Evergreen Fund believes that it doesn’t have to be. We proudly support Alzheimer’s and cancer research—and a healthier future—through John Hopkins Department of Pathology and the Prostate Cancer Foundation.
Alzheimer’s disease is the single most common neurodegenerative disorder in mid to late life. Alzheimer’s disease affects 7–10 percent of people 65 or older. This is not a disease that touches only the developed world. As life expectancy increases across the globe, so does the prevalence of Alzheimer’s. It is estimated that the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease will increase by over 100 percent in industrial countries and by more than 300 percent in developing countries. CLEAN WATER
The India Drinkwell Project is a new project that will finance the rapid implementation of a water filtering solution that provides affordable water, free from arsenic and fluoride contamination in the states of Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura, and Assam in Northeast India.
The Evergreen Fund recognizes how vital clean, safe water is to health. We are partnering with Drinkwell to provide their unique water filtration system to rural and peri-urban Indian communities that lack access to affordable sources of clean drinking water.
